The First Link™ Program was started
to address the needs and concerns of people with dementia
now and in the years to come. The program is an information
and referral system that is managed by the Alzheimer Society.
Working with health care professionals, health regions
and other community partners, the program is designed to
link individuals and families affected by Alzheimer’s
disease or a related dementia to a community of learning,
services and support.
- First Link™ connects individuals and families
to the services of the Alzheimer Society and provides
information about other community and health care services.
- The program offers a series of learning opportunities
that discuss every step of the Alzheimer journey; focusing
on coping strategies and day-to-day caregiving concerns.
- Participants are linked to a community of support from
professionals as well as peers who are dealing with similar
concerns.
