Logical Labels

Gram often forgets where she routinely keeps things in her kitchen, bedroom, bathroom, etc. To help her remember, my brothers, sister, and I found lots of pictures and we used them to label her cupboards, drawers, and doors. One look at the picture and Gram will know what’s behind a certain door or inside a drawer…at least for a while.

We used Clip Art pictures we found on the Internet but if you’d like, you can make your own by drawing free hand or cutting photos out of old magazines or catalogues. We even found some useful pictures in old colouring books.

Create pictures for the things that you know the person has trouble finding. Your pictures can be sketched in black or they can be in colour. The important thing to remember is that the picture must be recognizable to the person. Each picture should also be large enough to see. No magnifying glass needed please! If the pictures aren’t familiar due to size or drawing ability, then they won’t be of any practical use. It may help if you combine your pictures with words like we’ve done below.
