Brenda Hounam, a mother of two, has Alzheimer's Disease. When Brenda went to St. Thomas, Ontario in January 2004 to speak about how this disease had affected her, little did she know how much her life would change. She spoke openly of her sadness at the thought of being unable to recognize her own son and daughter and especially of the pain this would cause them. A music lover, Brenda thought a song would be the best way to remind her children of her love for them. By a stroke of fate she met Sara Westbrook, a singer and songwriter from St. Thomas. Sara contacted fellow songwriters Andrew Ang and Matthew Tishler, and with Brenda's blessing, the trio wrote “One More Memory”. Written from the perspective of a person with Alzheimer's Disease, “One More Memory” touches hearts and helps loved ones cope with the disease's unpredictable symptoms. Sara Westbrook's dream is to make a difference in people's lives through music and speech. At the age of 3, she told her mom, "I am going to be a singer," and since then has done everything in her power to make that intention a reality. Sara lost her grandfather to Alzheimer's Disease when she was 16 years old. Listen to Sara Westbrook’s haunting performance of “One More Memory”. This song has given a voice to those with Alzheimer's disease. The song reminds their caregivers that it is “their mind that has gone not their heart”. Brenda now travels with Sara and Linda Westbrook dispelling the myths of Alzheimer's disease, offering hope to those affected by memory loss, and promoting awareness through story and song.
