Ethics and Accountability
The Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan places a high value on our relationship with our donors. Without donor support we would not be able to achieve our mission to alleviate the personal and social consequences of Alzheimer’s disease and related dementias and promote the search for a cause and a cure. We thank you for your commitment to us.
We believe that transparency and accountability are essential to our success. With this in mind, We are a member of Imagine Canada and our board has adopted the Imagine Canada's Ethical Fundraising & Financial Accountability Code
The Ethical Fundraising and Financial Accountability Code has established a set of standards for management and financial reporting by charitable organizations. By adhering to these standards, we are complying with generally accepted practices for soliciting and managing donor dollars. This is important because you, our supporters, are entitled to transparency and the greatest impact possible for your investment in us.
If you have any questions about our adherence to the Ethical Code, please feel free to contact Kristina Gebhard, Fund Development Manager at 1-800-263-3367 or by e-mail at fund@alzheimer.sk.ca.
Our professional fund development staff belongs to the Association of Fundraising Professionals and the Canadian Association for Gift Planners and subscribes to the ethical codes of these two groups.

Common questions
1. Is my on-line donation secure?
Yes! Donations made on-line on our website are handled by CanadaHelps.org; a non-profit organization specifically created to help organizations like the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan implement on-line giving for an extremely low cost. Your charitable tax receipt will be sent to you by CanadaHelps.org and they will notify us of your donation. All the information you send to them and us will be held in the strictest confidence.

2. Does the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan conduct door-to-door campaigns?
Yes. The Alzheimer Society conducts door-to-door campaigns each fall in the communities of Saskatoon, Warman, Martensville, Regina, Moose Jaw and Swift Current. Alzheimer Society Volunteer Canvassers will be carrying an Alzheimer Society canvasser kit and will be wearing a blue and white nametag to identify them as a volunteer. The Canvasser will be able to issue you an official charitable tax receipt. Each receipt has an original and a copy and has the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan's charitable registration number on it.
In 2009, the Door-to-Door Campaigns in Regina, Moose Jaw and Swift Current will be held from October 15th to the 21st. The Saskatoon and area campaign will be held from November 1st to November 7th. If a person appears at your door requesting a donation for the Alzheimer Society and you are unsure if it is an official campaign, do not make a donation. Please notify the Alzheimer Society about your concerns by calling 1-800-263-3367.
3. As an Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan supporter, will I receive solicitations from other charities?
No. We do not share the names of our donors with other organizations.
4. How often will you contact me?
While the Alzheimer Society of Canada conducts a direct mail campaign across Canada, the Alzheimer Society of Saskatchewan does not solicit for donations by mail. We raise money through special events such as Coffee Break, the Fall Gala in Regina, the Door-to-Door Campaigns in the Fall, and the Forget-Me-Not Walks in January.
If you would like more information on these events go to Special Events or contact fund@alzheimer.sk.ca
